Trouble Brewing

Trouble Brewing Nocturne is an inviting Sweet Stout that showcases a luxurious interplay of dark roasted malt and creamy sweetness. Aromas of sweetened espresso and milk chocolate lead the sensory experience, supported by a subtle background of dark fruit esters. On the palate, a smooth wave of milk chocolate and sweet cream meets a mild, balancing roasted coffee bitterness. The addition of lactose provides a velvety texture and a sweet, comforting finish, preventing the roasted grains from tasting harsh or burnt. This is a beautifully balanced, dessert-like beer with a soft, medium-full body.

Appearance. Very dark brown to opaque black in color, with a thick, creamy tan head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves attractive lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of sweet cream and milk chocolate, coupled with a mild roasted coffee character. Low dark fruit esters are present, alongside a faint, earthy hop note and a clean, diacetyl-free fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial sweetness of milk chocolate and sweetened espresso dominates the palate. A mild, roasted grain bitterness provides a gentle counterpoint, preventing the beer from becoming cloying. Low dark fruit esters add complexity, finishing with a lingering, creamy sweetness and a clean, smooth aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full, creamy, and velvety on the palate, enhanced by high residual sugars from lactose. Carbonation is moderate and smooth, with a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and zero astringency.

Nonostante sia caratterizzata da un corpo pieno e robusto, risulta molto piacevole e beverina, con un leggerissimo retrogusto amarognolo che smorza il dolce del lattosio e del cioccolato.
