This English Barley Wine is a decadent, high-gravity masterpiece, having matured for over a year in Laird's apple brandy barrels. The sensory profile is incredibly layered, opening with a lush wave of toasted coconut and creamy wild Thai banana that melds seamlessly with the base beer’s rich, toffee-laden malt. The apple brandy influence introduces a bright, vinous fruitiness that cuts through the dense sweetness, while a gentle touch of premium cinnamon adds warmth and spice. The finish is long and velvety, highlighted by fragrant vanilla and a persistent, spirit-forward depth that underscores its impressive 13% ABV strength.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (18-22 SRM) with ruby highlights. It features a thin, off-white head with low retention and significant viscosity, creating prominent legs on the glass. The clarity is slightly hazy due to the heavy conditioning on coconut and banana.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex bouquet of rich caramel, toffee, and toasted bread. Strong notes of apple brandy and oak tannins are intertwined with fragrant cinnamon, creamy vanilla, and a distinct tropical sweetness from the toasted coconut and Thai banana. Moderate dark fruit esters like raisin and plum are present.

Taste. Initially very sweet and malty with deep layers of biscuit and caramel. The mid-palate explodes with toasted coconut and ripe banana, followed by a warming spice from the cinnamon. The apple brandy provides a vinous, orchard-fruit acidity that balances the heavy sweetness. Hop bitterness is low, allowing the spirit and adjuncts to dominate a long, sweet, and complex finish.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no harshness and a slight creamy coating on the palate.
