Imperial Stout 14 º
Immortal Decay is a monumental Imperial Stout forged through a collaboration between Tripping Animals and Burial. Having matured for twenty-five months in Willet Rye Bourbon barrels, this 14% ABV liquid presents a profound sensory depth. The aroma is saturated with espresso, dark chocolate, and the unmistakable spicy character of rye whiskey, complemented by vanilla and charred oak. On the palate, a velvety, viscous texture carries intense flavors of bittersweet cocoa, black cherry, and leather. The extended aging has smoothed the roast into a complex, port-like finish, where firm bitterness and a warming alcohol presence create a harmonious, decadent balance.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+); features a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention and significant viscous legs that coat the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; rich espresso, bittersweet chocolate, and black licorice meld with prominent Willet Rye Bourbon notes of spicy grain, vanilla, and toasted oak; moderate esters of dried fig and prune.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely roasty with dark chocolate and burnt grain; mid-palate reveals spicy rye, bourbon-soaked oak, and tobacco; firm bitterness balances the residual malt sweetness; finish is long, warming, and slightly vinous.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, luscious, and velvety texture; low carbonation; noticeable and smooth alcohol warmth appropriate for the high gravity.
