This West Coast Double IPA, a collaboration between Tripping Animals and Humble Sea, delivers an intense hop experience defined by a signature blend of Simcoe Cryo, Mosaic Cryo, and Strata. The sensory profile is dominated by a complex interplay of dank resin, passionfruit, and bright citrus, grounded by the specific berry and stone fruit notes characteristic of Mosaic Cryo. Strata adds a layer of tropical strawberry and herbal depth, while Simcoe Cryo reinforces a crisp pine foundation. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a lean malt profile and a firm, clean bitterness that leads to a characteristically dry finish, emphasizing drinkability despite the high alcohol content.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper with brilliant clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma showcasing pine and resinous Simcoe Cryo, alongside the tropical blueberry and melon notes of Mosaic Cryo. Strata contributes a distinct passionfruit and dank herbal quality. Background malt is clean, neutral, and grainy, with a very low fruity fermentation profile.
Taste. A forceful hop-forward flavor profile featuring strawberry, grapefruit, and resin. These are supported by a soft, unobtrusive pale malt character with minimal caramel. Bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness, finishing very dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated without any harsh astringency.
