This Double IPA, a collaboration between Tripping Animals and Casa Agria, bursts with an intense, double dry-hopped profile. The aromatic leadership of Citra and Riwaka delivers a saturated wave of pink grapefruit and zesty passionfruit, while Enigma adds sophisticated layers of red currant and melon. On the palate, the high hop intensity is supported by a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the resinous and tropical fruit flavors to shine. Despite its 8.5% strength, it maintains a remarkably smooth, dry finish. A firm bitterness balances the lush fruit notes, making for a potent yet approachable sensory experience.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8-10 SRM) with a persistent, creamy white head and moderate lacing. While the style allows clarity, this double dry-hopped version displays a soft, characteristic haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of tropical passionfruit, zesty grapefruit, and distinct notes of red berry and melon. Malt presence is very low and neutral, providing a clean canvas for the complex fermentation and hop bouquet.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of lime and tropical fruit, followed by more nuanced flavors of raspberry and currant. Firm bitterness is present but well-integrated, leading to a medium-dry, clean finish with a lingering hop resin aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated without being harsh.
