This lush Double IPA, a collaboration with Other Half, presents a saturated tropical profile driven by heavy additions of Riwaka, Motueka, and Nectaron hops. The sensory experience is led by a burst of passionfruit and zesty lime, followed by deep layers of pineapple and stone fruit. Thanks to the oat cream treatment, the body is exceptionally silky, softening the assertive hop presence. A delicate sweetness from the oats and lactose balances the potent fruit-forward character, while the 8.5% ABV is felt as a clean, integrated warmth. It concludes with a smooth, resinous finish that highlights the complex New Zealand hop varieties.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). Opaque, milky haze. Massive, dense, white foam head with excellent retention and thick, decorative lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant tropical notes of passionfruit and pineapple from Riwaka and Nectaron, accompanied by a distinct lime zest character from Motueka. Background notes of white peach and subtle resin. Low, sweet, grainy malt aroma with a hint of vanilla-like creaminess. Clean fermentation profile with no solventy alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression of tropical fruit punch featuring mango, nectarine, and crushed lime. The malt flavor is soft and bready, providing a supportive base for the intense hop saturation. Bitterness is moderate but smooth, lacking any harshness or vegetal bite. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering nectarine and soft pine aftertaste. Highly complex and layered.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and notably creamy due to the oats and lactose. Moderate carbonation creates a soft, pillowy texture on the palate. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with zero hop-derived astringency.
