Trivergence is a powerful Double IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop profile through the strategic use of Zythos, Simcoe, and Idaho 7. This collaboration with Staggeringly Good delivers an intense sensory experience, leading with pungent aromas of resinous pine and bright citrus from the Simcoe, layered with the complex tropical fruit and stone fruit notes characteristic of Zythos and Idaho 7. Despite its 8.5% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability with a clean, neutral malt backbone that supports the aggressive hop bitterness without veering into cloying sweetness. The result is a vibrant, modern ale with a lingering, dry, and resinous finish.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper with good clarity. A moderate-sized, persistent white head leaves consistent lacing on the glass as it recedes.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and tropical mango. Secondary notes of stone fruit and a hint of floral spice are supported by a neutral, slightly grainy malt background and very low fruity esters.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of citrus peel, pine resin, and overripe pineapple dominate the palate. The malt presence is low and unobtrusive, providing a clean, bready foundation. Bitterness is moderately high but smooth, leading to a dry finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. A light, clean alcohol presence is detectable but well-integrated.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present without any harshness or astringency.
