Trig Brewery Interloper is a sophisticated English Porter that utilizes a complex grist of biscuit, caramel, and roasted malts to construct a deeply layered sensory experience. The inclusion of oats provides a velvety thickness to the body, serving as a lush canvas for primary notes of dark chocolate and distinct smoked coffee. Hop additions of Columbus and Cascade introduce a subtle earthy and citrus-floral counterpoint that balances the malt-forward sweetness without overwhelming the palate. This 5% ABV ale concludes with a smooth, lingering roastiness, merging traditional British malt character with a modern, creamy texture and a faint hint of wood smoke.

Appearance. Dark brown with deep ruby highlights at the edges (25–30 SRM). Features a thick, persistent light tan head with good lacing and fair clarity, though it appears nearly opaque in the glass.

Aroma. Moderately high intensity featuring bready and biscuity malt notes. Prominent scents of cocoa, toasted caramel, and a light wisp of roasted coffee are present, alongside a low earthy hop aroma and subtle fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression of sweet caramel and nutty biscuit followed by mid-palate notes of dark chocolate and cold-brew coffee with a touch of smoke. Medium-low bitterness provides balance, complemented by a faint resinous and floral hop flavor. The finish is medium-dry and clean with a lingering chocolate-roast character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable silkiness and creaminess derived from the oats. Carbonation is moderate and smooth. No perceptible alcohol warmth or harsh astringency.
