This American IPA serves as a quintessential nod to the West Coast tradition, balancing a sturdy hop presence with a remarkably clean profile. At 5.5% ABV, it leans toward the sessionable end of the style, delivering a medium-high sensory intensity. The experience is defined by a luscious interplay of ripe tropical fruit and zesty citrus, seamlessly transitioning into classic notes of resinous pine and subtle peppercorn spice. A lean base of pale malts provides a structural graininess without adding unnecessary weight, allowing the crisp, dry bitterness to command the finish. It is a vibrant, hop-forward ale that prioritizes clarity and a refreshing, snappy character.
Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of ripe stone fruit, mango, and pungent pine resin. A background of low, grainy-sweet malt supports the hops. Fermentation is clean with only a faint hint of citrusy esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-dominant, showcasing vibrant flavors of grapefruit peel, pine needles, and a touch of herbal spice. Bitterness is firm and assertive (approx. 50 IBU), balanced by a low, toasted cracker malt character. It finishes very dry and clean, with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides a lively, refreshing mouth-coating. Alcohol warmth is negligible, and there is no perceived astringency.
