Double Exposure is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases the innovative marriage of Citra, Peacharine, and Lily hops. This expression radiates with a saturated profile of citrus zest and freshly squeezed orange juice, immediately softened by the velvet-like sweetness of juicy stone fruits. The addition of Lily hops introduces a pungent depth, evoking images of overripe mango and concentrated apricot bars, finished with a bright zing of limeade. Characteristically soft and approachable despite its strength, the beer balances an intense tropical saturation with a clean, supportive malt backbone, exemplifying a modern, fruit-forward approach to the style with a remarkably smooth finish.
Appearance. Pale yellow (4 SRM). Dense, sticky white head with excellent retention and significant lacing. Uniformly hazy and opaque.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet. Dominant notes of fresh orange juice, citrus zest, and ripe stone fruit from Citra and Peacharine. Pungent tropical aromas of mango and apricot nectar follow, accompanied by a distinct floral note and limeade brightness. Background malt is clean, neutral, and grainy. Alcohol is well-hidden with no solvent notes.
Taste. Initial impression is a saturated wave of tropical fruit and citrus. Prominent flavors of mango, apricot bars, and citrus zest. Hop bitterness is firm but smooth, lacking any harshness. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive support with light crackery notes. Fermentation is clean with a slight peach-like ester. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering aftertaste of lime and tropical resins.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol warmth is restrained and well-integrated. No hop-derived astringency or harshness.
