Transient Artisan Ales

This massive Imperial Stout presents a masterful synthesis of extended maturation and decadent roast. Three years of aging in Elijah Craig 11 year and Buffalo Trace barrels infuse the jet-black liquid with profound layers of charred oak, rich vanilla, and spicy bourbon. The sensory profile is dominated by bittersweet chocolate and espresso, underpinned by complex dark fruit notes of prune and black currant. A velvety, viscous texture coats the palate, delivering a harmonious blend of caramelized sugars and spirit-forward warmth. The result is a sophisticated, slow-sipping experience where the intense barrel character perfectly integrates with the heavy malt backbone.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a dense, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. Distinct legs and high viscosity are visible on the glass due to the high alcohol and extract content.

Aroma. Intense and complex. Bold aromas of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans are layered with heavy bourbon influence, featuring vanilla, toasted oak, and caramel. Significant dark fruit esters reminiscent of figs and raisins are present, alongside a clean, noticeable alcohol warmth and a hint of black licorice.

Taste. The initial impression is exceptionally rich and malt-forward, showcasing bittersweet chocolate, molasses, and black licorice. The barrel aging contributes deep oak tannins and sweet spirit flavors of vanilla and brown sugar. Hop bitterness is firm but balanced by the massive malt body. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of roasted grain, charred wood, and dried fruit.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, providing a luxurious mouth-coating sensation. A smooth, significant alcohol warmth is persistent but well-integrated, lacking any harsh solvent notes.
