This opulent American Barleywine, a masterful blend aged in Blis Maple Bourbon and Elijah Craig 18yr barrels, delivers an intense sensory experience. Deep toffee and rich caramel malt notes form a decadent foundation, layered with profound barrel character. Aromas of charred oak, vanilla, and a whisper of maple syrup mingle with residual resinous hop notes typical of the style. Despite its massive 13.5% ABV, the alcohol is impressively integrated, providing a smooth, contemplative warmth. The palate is viscous and complex, balancing malty sweetness with a firm, lingering bitterness that prevents the finish from becoming cloying.

Appearance. Deep copper to mahogany with brilliant ruby highlights. Topped by a thin, persistent light tan head with minimal lacing, indicative of the high alcohol concentration.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant notes of bourbon-soaked oak, vanilla, and toasted marshmallow from the barrels, complemented by sweet maple and toffee. Low citrusy hop aroma and moderate dark fruit esters like dried plum.

It is dripping with barrel character, rich toffee and caramel notes pop out of this one, and only the slightest hint of its massive ABV poke through around the edges. We will make more blends of Bubba in the future, but much like the cat herself, they will all be one of a kind.
