Tilted represents a vibrant, modern take on the classic American Pale Ale, balancing traditional leanings with innovative hop layers. A clean, streamlined malt profile provides the necessary structural support while allowing the hop trio of Citra, Cascade, and Zappa to take center stage. Citra and Cascade lead the charge with bright, punchy notes of lime pith and tart pink grapefruit, backed by a foundational layer of grassy pine. The addition of Zappa introduces a subtle complexity, weaving in hints of exotic spice and tropical fruit. With an assertive bitterness that cuts through a slick hop oiliness, the experience remains refreshing, culminating in a crisp, dry, and exceptionally clean finish.
Appearance. Pale golden to light amber (5-7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderately large, frothy white head that exhibits good retention and leaves light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent grapefruit zest, lime, and resinous pine. Subtle tropical fruit notes and a faint peppery spice are present. The malt aroma is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy backdrop with no significant caramel.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and crisp. Flavors of pithy lime and tart grapefruit dominate, followed by earthy pine and a touch of tropical melon. Bitterness is firm and assertive, balancing a light, crackery malt sweetness. The finish is dry and refreshing with a clean, lingering hop bitterness and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. Exhibits a slight hop oiliness that is quickly scrubbed by the crisp finish. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated; no astringency.
