This West Coast American Pale Ale presents a bright, contemporary take on the style, featuring a vibrant interplay between Motueka and Idaho 7 hops. The sensory profile opens with an explosion of lime zest and crushed tropical fruit, grounded by a distinctive resinous pine backbone. A base of neutral pale malt provides a clean, lean canvas that allows the hop character to remain the focus without interference from heavy caramel. At 5.2% ABV, it strikes a perfect balance between drinkability and impact, finishing dry and crisp with a measured, firm bitterness that invites the next sip.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (approx. 6 SRM). Brilliantly clear with a moderately large, frothy white head that exhibits good retention and leaves light lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity. Dominant aromas of tropical pineapple, citrus lime, and fresh spruce pine from the Motueka and Idaho 7 hops. Underlying neutral, grainy maltiness provides a supportive base. Clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is bright and hop-forward. Bold flavors of lime, mango, and resinous pine lead into a light, bready malt mid-palate. Bitterness is firm but well-measured, providing a clean, crisp counterpoint to the hop fruitiness. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering note of tropical fruit and a touch of pine.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. Very smooth with no alcohol warmth or astringency. Brisk and refreshing on the palate.
