On the night of 14 March 2025, under the skies of Nelson, New Zealand, Eggers Hops were harvesting during a rare celestial event—a full blood moon and total lunar eclipse occurring together. Over a single 24-hour window, the hops were gathered at the precise moment when the moon’s gravitational pull, lunar light, and unique eclipse spectrum combined to create conditions unlike any other harvest in memory. We are lucky to be part of a select group of breweries, joining in an international collaboration brew, celebrating this extraordinary harvest. We brewed our Pale Ale on the Harvest Moon, and have double dry-hopped it to discover all we can about this unique variety harvested under a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event. It imparts a Riesling-like quality, plenty of gooseberry, passionfruit and lime, and a touch of diesel dankness on the nose
