This West Coast Double IPA delivers a saturation of hop intensity, showcasing the concentrated power of Idaho7 CGX, Strata CGX, and Citra Cryo. The aroma presents a dense fruit profile, leading with sweet Dekopon citrus and layers of forest berries. On the palate, a crisp malt backbone supports a heavy hop presence that transitions from lush tropical notes to a profound, resinous dankness. Despite its significant 8% ABV strength, the finish remains remarkably clean and dry, balancing aggressive bitterness with a smooth, lingering hop oil character and a refreshing, snappy execution that honors the traditional West Coast profile.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant, deep gold to light orange with excellent clarity. It is topped by a persistent, fine-beaded white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics dominated by resinous pine and dank herbs from Idaho7 CGX, intertwined with the specific strawberry and passionfruit esters of Strata CGX. Citra Cryo contributes bright grapefruit and lime peel, while a very low, clean, grainy malt presence remains strictly supportive in the background.
Taste. An immediate punch of citrus and tropical fruit gives way to a complex berry sweetness and a robust, resinous dankness. The malt provides a neutral, bready foundation that allows the moderately high hop bitterness to shine without harshness. The finish is very dry and crisp, characterized by a long, clean, hoppy aftertaste of citrus rind and pine.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost oily texture from the high hop oil concentration. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a lively scrub across the tongue. A well-integrated, soft alcohol warmth is present but never solventy or sharp.
