Heatphobia is a meticulously crafted Hazy IPA that serves as a masterclass in the versatility of the Nelson Sauvin hop. By blending harvests from three distinct farms, Totopia achieves a profound depth of character, layering classic Nelson Sauvin gooseberry with pungent dankness and soft apricot. The addition of Citra Abstrax enhances the tropical brightness. This deep yellow, opaque pour offers a velvety texture from the oat cream base, leading into a palate rich with white peach sweetness and a vibrant, grassy finish. It is a complex, hop-saturated experience that balances intense fruitiness with a smooth, approachable body.
Appearance. Deep yellow (5–6 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a luminous shine. Topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by multi-layered Nelson Sauvin profiles including ripe apricot, white grape, and a distinct resinous dankness. Subtle citrus notes from Citra weave through a bready, grainy malt backbone with a hint of sweet cream.
Taste. Initial impression is a wash of stone fruit, specifically white peach and apricot. The mid-palate reveals complex hop flavors of crushed grapes and a sharp, grassy freshness. Bitterness is low to moderate, effectively balanced by a light residual sweetness and a smooth, oat-driven malt character. The finish is clean yet lingering with fruity esters.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably smooth, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Very low alcohol warmth, well-integrated at 6% ABV. No hop harshness or astringency.
