Don't Be Shady is a bright, hop-forward American IPA designed for maximum sessionability. This pale gold ale leads with a vibrant sensory profile of tropical fruit, specifically featuring lush pineapple and passionfruit notes bolstered by zesty citrus and a subtle undertone of mixed berries derived from a generous dry-hopping process. Despite its approachable alcohol content, the beer maintains its stylistic integrity with a clean, grainy malt backbone that provides structure without competing for attention. The finish is crisp and medium-dry, leaving a refreshing, citrus-tinged bitterness on the palate that invites another sip, perfectly capturing the essence of modern sunshine refreshment.
Appearance. Color is a bright medium gold (7 SRM) with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves fine lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, permissible haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical pineapple and passionfruit, followed by bright citrus and a faint berry-like sweetness. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral background. Fermentation profile is exceptionally clean.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavors. High hop bitterness is well-integrated and supported by a low, grainy-sweet malt character. Minimal caramel or toast. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, clean, hoppy aftertaste of grapefruit pith and passionfruit.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp and refreshing effervescence. No alcohol warmth or hop harshness is perceived.
