This bold Double IPA is a citrus-forward powerhouse, defined by the unique addition of sherbet lemons and a subtle kettle-sour tang. At 8.3% ABV, it presents a robust profile where the vibrant lemon character takes center stage, supported by a heavy 16g/L dry-hop charge that amplifies the tropical and resinous notes typical of modern American hops. The inclusion of oats provides a smooth, velvety counterpoint to the sharp citrus and light acidity, creating a lush texture. The result is a vibrant, refreshingly tart take on the style that balances intense hop bitterness with a creamy, full-bodied finish.
Appearance. Pales gold to light orange; hazy due to the inclusion of oats and a heavy dry-hop. Moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant fresh lemon zest and candied citrus peel from the sherbet lemons. Complementary tropical fruit and piney hop notes. Low, neutral grainy malt in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of lactic tartness.
Taste. Powerful initial impression of zesty lemon and bright citrus. Hop flavor is intense, featuring resinous and tropical fruit notes. Bitterness is firm but not harsh, balanced by a slight lactic acidity from the kettle souring. Minimal malt presence allows the fruit to shine. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering lemony tang and resinous hop depth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture derived from the added oats. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Very low astringency despite the high dry-hopping rate.
