Das Kölner presents a classic Kölsch experience, bridging the gap between a clean lager and a delicate ale. Brewed with a traditional ale yeast and cold-conditioned for three weeks, this straw-colored beer offers a refined bouquet of low grainy-sweet malt and faint orchard fruit esters like pear. A subtle, unique nutty nuance emerges alongside light floral hop notes, providing an inviting complexity. The palate is soft yet well-attenuated, showcasing a delicate balance of bready malt and medium-low bitterness. Its crisp, dry finish is remarkably refreshing, making it a quintessential example of a fresh, light blonde beer with a rounded, polished character.
Appearance. Light gold to medium yellow (3.5–5 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a delicate, fine-textured white head with moderate retention.
Aroma. Low to moderate intensity. Initial grainy-sweet malt aroma with a distinctive, subtle nuttiness. Very low fruity esters resembling pear. Optional low floral or spicy hop notes are present and well-balanced.
Taste. A delicate balance of soft, grainy malt and light bready flavors. A hint of nuttiness persists through the mid-palate. Low floral hop flavor with a medium-low bitterness. Clean fermentation profile with a soft, rounded palate. Finish is dry, crisp, and refreshing with no lingering sweetness.

Tonbridge Brewery ales are brewed with a live yeast that originates from the Barclay Perkins brewery of Southwark, south east London, which provides these beers individual character.
