Tonbridge Brewery Coppernob

Coppernob is a classic Ordinary Bitter that exemplifies the sessionability of traditional British ales. At a modest 3.8% ABV, it presents a rich copper hue and a balanced profile defined by distinct biscuit and caramel maltiness. The sensory experience is anchored by a quintessential blend of Kentish Golding, Challenger, and Fuggles hops, which impart a floral, earthy, and slightly spicy character. This combination leads to a robustly hoppy finish that cuts through the medium-dry body. The interplay between the toasted malt depth and the traditional English hop presence creates an approachable yet complex pint, finishing with a clean, lingering bitterness.
Appearance. Copper-colored (12–14 SRM) with brilliant clarity. It supports a modest, creamy off-white head with moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring an inviting blend of toasted biscuit and light caramel malt. Hop character is notably earthy and floral, reflecting the Kentish Golding and Fuggles influence. Low fruity esters add a subtle apple or pear note, while the aroma remains clean.
Taste. Initial biscuit and bready malt sweetness is quickly met by a firm, medium-high bitterness. Flavors of caramel and toasted grain provide a solid backbone for the earthy, spicy, and resinous hop notes provided by Challenger and Fuggles. The fermentation character is subtly fruity. It concludes with a medium-dry, robustly hoppy finish and a clean, lingering bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with a smooth, approachable texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, typical of the style, with no alcohol warmth or astringency.

Meet the Brewery Tonbridge Brewery are an independent brewery based in the ‘Historic Heart of Kent’s Hop Growing Area’, supplying cask conditioned ales to Pubs and Clubs throughout Kent, that includes us in Historic Rochester! and also South East London, and Eastern parts of Sussex and Surrey. Established in 2010, Tonbridge Brewery produce a widerange of distinctive real ales in cask and a small range of keg ales. They use only malted barley, leaf hops (predominately Kentish) and yeast. Tonbridge Brewery ales are brewed with a live yeast that originates from the Barclay Perkins brewery of Southwark, south east London, which provides these beers individual character. The regular cask conditioned ales are all clearly differentiated and the range offers a choice of lighter, darker, hoppy, malty, weaker and stronger ales.
