This Munich Helles, a collaboration between To Øl and Newbarns, offers a masterclass in malt-forward elegance. The sensory experience begins with a prominent aroma of grainy-sweet Continental Pilsner malt, accented by subtle nuances of spicy and floral traditional German hops. On the palate, it delivers a soft, rounded sweetness that feels substantial yet exceptionally clean. The bitterness remains restrained, allowing the bready malt core to shine before transitioning into a smooth, dry finish. With its brilliant clarity and creamy head, this lager emphasizes balance and drinkability, showcasing a sophisticated, well-lagered character that is both refreshing and deeply satisfying.
Appearance. Pale gold (approximately 4 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a persistent, creamy white head with good lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a dominant grainy-sweet malt presence. Low spicy and herbal hop character is evident, supported by a very clean fermentation profile free of esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Moderately malty start with a soft, rounded grainy-sweetness. Hop flavor is low and leans toward floral and spicy traditional varieties. Bitterness is low to medium-low, providing just enough support to prevent cloying sweetness. The finish is soft and dry, with a lingering bready malt aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth and well-conditioned, providing a creamy mouthfeel without any astringency or significant alcohol warmth.
