Ms. Teal 2018 Edition is a coastal-inspired Gose that evokes the brisk North Sea through a savory blend of five types of Icelandic seaweed. The aroma opens with a crisp lactic tartness and a briny, mineral-rich sea breeze, supported by a subtle, rustic fruitiness from the house pear tree Brett. On the palate, a light, doughy wheat base is quickly overtaken by a refreshing sourness and a distinct savory depth. Bright citrus notes emerge toward the finish, balancing the oceanic salinity. It remains light-bodied and highly effervescent, delivering a clean, mouthwatering experience with a lingering, salt-kissed complexity.
Appearance. Pale straw-yellow (3-4 SRM) and distinctly hazy. Topped by a tall, fizzy white head with moderate retention and light lacing; highly effervescent.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring sharp lactic acidity and a unique briny, mineral character from the Icelandic seaweed. Low doughy wheat malt is complemented by esters of ripe pear and lemon zest with a faint, earthy funk from the house Brettanomyces.
Taste. Briskly sour and refreshing initial impression. Soft, bready wheat malt is layered with complex savory umami and oceanic salinity. Bitterness is very low. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering citrus tang and a mouthwatering salt-driven aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied and lean with high carbonation providing a prickly, effervescent texture. The mineral and salt content creates a tingly, mouthwatering sensation. No alcohol warmth.
