This decadent Imperial-strength American Brown Ale offers a sensory journey through a confectioner’s pantry. Dominated by an intense bouquet of double coffee fudge and toasted hazelnut butter, the aroma is layered with sweet vanilla and salted caramel. The palate is exceptionally rich, mirroring the aroma with deep cocoa crumble and chocolate malt notes, reminiscent of fresh cookie dough. While the haze deviates from traditional expectations, the roasted malts provide a sturdy foundation for the luxurious sweetness. At 9% ABV, it delivers a notable warmth that balances the viscous, full-bodied mouthfeel, finishing with a lingering, salt-kissed fudge character.
Appearance. Very dark brown (35 SRM). Distinctly hazy, as described, with a moderate light-tan head that displays creamy retention and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aroma of freshly roasted coffee, milk chocolate, and hazelnut. Significant sweet notes of vanilla and salted caramel. Malt character is rich and toasty, with very low hop presence and low dark-fruit esters.
Taste. Initial impression is dessert-like and very sweet. Prominent flavors of chocolate fudge, hazelnut butter, and sweet vanilla dough. Malt flavors of caramel and toast are present but secondary to the adjuncts. Medium-low bitterness provides minimal offset to the sugar. The finish is long and sweet with a distinct savory salt touch and lingering cocoa.
Mouthfeel. Full, viscous, and coating body. Moderate carbonation. Notable alcohol warmth is present but smooth. Creamy texture with no perceived astringency.
