Free Frontier is an assertive American IPA crafted as an Alternative Grain Beer, utilizing enzymes to achieve a gluten-free profile while maintaining a substantial body. The sensory experience is dominated by an intense "Double and a Half" dry-hop regimen featuring Warrior, Simcoe, and Centennial hops. This trio delivers a vibrant punch of grapefruit, citrus zest, and ripe peach against a clean, grainy malt backdrop. It pours with a classic golden hue and a persistent white head. The palate is refreshingly dry and notably bitter, showcasing the aromatic resinous and citrus-forward character typical of modern West Coast-inspired IPAs, finishing crisp and clean.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (6–9 SRM). Clear to slightly hazy due to heavy dry hopping. Thick, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Explosive citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon zest, accompanied by stone fruit aromas of peach. Resinous, piney undertones from Simcoe and Centennial. Neutral malt profile with a faint bready or grainy sweetness.
Taste. Immediate, sharp hop bitterness supported by flavors of grapefruit rind, pine needles, and peach. The malt provides a clean, crackery foundation without overbearing sweetness. High hop bitterness that lingers into a crisp, dry, and refreshingly bitter finish without being harsh.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture despite the gluten-reduction process. Moderate to high carbonation. Subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth. Very low hop-derived astringency.
