This Sweet Stout presents an indulgent, dessert-like profile anchored by the nutty depth of Maris Otter Pale Malt and the sharp, coffee-like intensity of Roast Barley. The addition of Madagascan Vanilla creates a luxurious, cream-like sweetness that perfectly complements the dark chocolate inclusions. While Northdown hops provide a subtle, earthy bitterness to balance the palate, the overall impression is one of velvet-smooth opulence. Despite its sessionable strength, the interplay of roasted grains and rich vanilla gives it the weight and decadence of a much larger beer, finishing with a lingering, sweetened espresso character that remains smooth and approachable.

Appearance. Opaque, deep black (SRM 38) with a thick, creamy, tan head that displays excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity of dark chocolate and aromatic Madagascan vanilla. Mild roasted grain scents of coffee and cocoa provide a foundation, accompanied by low earthy hop notes and a faint hint of dark fruit esters.

Taste. Dominant flavors of milk chocolate and sweet vanilla cream. A moderate roasted grain character provides coffee-like notes without harshness. The Maris Otter base adds a bready complexity, while Northdown hops contribute a mild, earthy bitterness to counter the medium-high sweetness. The finish is lingering and sweet, emphasizing the chocolate and cream-like qualities.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full-bodied with a luxurious, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol warmth is very low, contributing to a smooth and opulent sensation without any astringency.
