This Double IPA presents an aggressive sensory profile dominated by an unruly double dry-hopping of Mosaic and Citra. An explosive bouquet of ripe mango and dank tropical fruit leads the charge, layered with the distinct sweetness of candied orange peel. Despite its hazy, beast-like appearance, it maintains a focused hop intensity characteristic of the style. The Mosaic hops provide a complex berry and tropical depth, while Citra lends a bright, citrus-forward sharpness. Clean, neutral malts offer just enough support to balance the firm bitterness, resulting in a dangerously drinkable experience with a dry, lingering finish of resinous citrus.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange-copper (SRM 6-10). Opaque haze with a thick, persistent white head and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent mango, papaya, and berry from Mosaic, complemented by candied orange peel and grapefruit from Citra. Underlying dankness and resinous pine. Low neutral, grainy malt in the background. Clean fermentation with a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong hop-forward punch of tropical mango and citrus zest. Firm but smooth hop bitterness that avoids harshness. Malt character is low and supportive, providing a soft bready foundation without residual sweetness. Flavors of berry and citrus oils dominate through the mid-palate. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but restrained alcohol warmth. No harsh hop-derived astringency.
