Roly Poly presents as a vibrant, hop-forward American IPA, showcasing a heavy-handed 16g/l dry hop addition. The trio of Azacca, El Dorado, and Mosaic hops drives a saturated profile of tropical fruit, specifically ripe pineapple, mango, and stone fruit, underscored by hints of berry and pine. Despite its sessionable 4.2% ABV, the sensory impact remains high, with a clean, lean malt backbone providing a crisp canvas for the intense hop oils. The finish is decidedly dry and bitter, characteristic of the style, inviting another sip through its refreshing, bright citrus and tropical aromatics and clean fermentation profile.
Appearance. Medium gold color with a slight, hop-induced haze. Features a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Azacca and El Dorado tropical notes of mango and pineapple, supported by Mosaic descriptors of blueberry and resinous pine. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness; fermentation profile is very clean.
Taste. Initial burst of tropical and stone fruit flavors followed by a low, cracker-like malt presence. The hop flavor is high, mirroring the aroma with candied fruit and berry notes. Medium-high bitterness is well-integrated, leading to a crisp, dry finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, refreshing texture. Carbonation is medium-high. Very clean mouthfeel with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
