Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention, leaving dense lacing. High viscosity is apparent through visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; rich aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, and charred grain dominate the malt profile. Toasted coconut contributes a prominent sweet, macaroon-like scent, complemented by the distinct, nutty aroma of roasted almonds. Low esters of raisins and figs are present with a smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial wave of dark malt sweetness and toasted coconut. The mid-palate reveals layers of bittersweet cocoa, black licorice, and burnt toast. Almond additions provide a smooth, nutty complexity. Bitterness is medium-high, balancing the high residual sugars. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of dark fruit.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, velvety, and luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but gentle alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the richness without being sharp or solventy.
