The 8.2% ABV is expertly masked behind a wall of New World hop intensity, supported by an experimental yeast strain that adds subtle fruity esters without overshadowing the hop-forward focus. A lean, neutral malt base provides the canvas for the characteristic Nelson wine-like qualities and a firm bitterness. Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of white wine grapes, gooseberry, and passion fruit from the Nelson hops. A subtle, clean, bready malt background supports light fruity esters from the yeast fermentation.
Taste. Prominent flavors of crushed green grapes and tropical fruit lead into a moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. A neutral, grainy malt presence stays in the background, finishing medium-dry with a lingering hop-derived fruitiness and a clean aftertaste.
