This Imperial Stout offers an opulent sensory journey, elevated by six months of maturation in Breckenridge whiskey oak barrels. The pour is viscous and jet black, releasing an intense bouquet where deep roasted malts meet the whiskey’s unique contributions of ripe banana and rich brown sugar. On the palate, a complex layer of toasted sesame and spicy white pepper emerges, cutting through the dense dark chocolate and espresso core. The barrel influence manifests as smooth oak tannins and a creamy vanilla finish, providing a sophisticated counterpoint to the firm, resinous bitterness. Each sip concludes with a lingering, velvety warmth and a harmonious, spirit-forward depth.
Appearance. SRM 40+; opaque jet black. Features a thick, persistent deep tan head with excellent retention and heavy lacing. High viscosity is evident by the visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; rich roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate aromatics are layered with barrel-derived notes of brown sugar and ripe banana. Nuanced white pepper spice and toasted sesame notes mingle with smooth oak and a clean whiskey spirit presence.
Taste. Initial impression of intense dark roasted grains and caramel. The mid-palate reveals complex barrel-aged traits including vanilla, toasted oak, and a distinctive hint of toasted sesame. Ripe banana and brown sugar sweetness are expertly balanced by a firm roast bitterness. The finish is long and warming with a lingering vanilla and dry wood character.
