13 Guns is a vibrant American IPA that explodes with a complex, lupulin-driven bouquet. A powerhouse hop blend of Centennial, Citra, and Amarillo delivers a sharp citrus and tropical fruit punch, while Chinook and Apollo contribute deep layers of resinous pine and assertive spice. The addition of Kohatu adds a unique stone fruit and lime zest shimmer to the profile. Despite the hop intensity, a clean, grainy malt base provides just enough structural support to allow the multifaceted hop character to lead. The result is a celebratory, high-impact ale with a crisp finish and a lingering, refreshing bitterness that honors its transatlantic inspiration.
Appearance. Pours a clear, bright copper-gold with an SRM of approximately 10. It is topped by a medium-sized, off-white head with excellent persistence and thick, decorative lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring punchy notes of grapefruit, orange peel, and tropical mango alongside resinous pine and light floral spice. A very low, clean bready malt sweetness provides a neutral background.
Taste. Dominant flavors of zesty citrus, tropical fruit, and pine resin lead the palate. A crisp, clean malt backbone offers light toasted notes, supporting a firm, medium-high bitterness. The finish is notably dry and refreshing, with an aftertaste highlighting persistent grapefruit and coniferous hop notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Carbonation is moderately high, providing a prickly, cleansing sensation. Alcohol presence is very light and smooth with no harsh astringency.
