Hot Rod is a distinctive Rauchbier that swaps traditional German beechwood for the unique, earthy character of Manuka-smoked malts. The base is built on a rich, toasty foundation of Munich and Vienna malts, providing a copper-hued depth that supports the assertive but clean smoke. Fermented with the iconic Weihenstephan Lager Yeast, the profile remains exceptionally clean, allowing the woodsy, slightly resinous Manuka notes to harmonize with a malty-sweet core. The result is a smooth, balanced lager where the savory smoke enhances the dry finish rather than overwhelming the palate, delivering a sophisticated and refined take on the classic smoked amber lager style.

Appearance. Deep copper to amber-brown with brilliant clarity. Pours with a thick, long-lasting, creamy tan head that leaves fine lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aromatic profile featuring a complex blend of earthy Manuka smoke and rich, toasty malt. The smoke presents woody and slightly savory notes, well-integrated with bread crust and caramel scents from the Munich and Vienna malts. Clean fermentation character with no esters and a very low spicy hop presence.

Taste. Initial malt richness offers flavors of toasted bread and mild caramel, quickly followed by a dominant but smooth Manuka smoke character. The balance is expertly maintained between the sweet maltiness and a moderate hop bitterness. The finish is medium-dry, with lingering notes of woodsmoke and toasted grain. Clean, crisp lager finish without any inappropriate rubbery or acrid notes.
