This Hazy IPA offers a lush, dessert-like experience, merging the juicy essence of a fruit smoothie with a sophisticated hop profile. Deeply infused with Doris plums, the sensory journey begins with vibrant stone fruit notes complemented by the tropical melon and stone fruit character of El Dorado hops. A generous addition of lactose and oats creates a velvety, opaque structure, while vanilla provides a fragrant, rounding sweetness. This milkshake interpretation balances fruit acidity against a creamy backdrop, resulting in a complex, full-flavored profile that emphasizes velvety textures and rich fruit aromatics over bitterness.
Appearance. SRM 5–8; deep straw to golden-orange with a noticeable pinkish-purple hue from the plums. Opaque, hazy clarity with a thick, meringue-like off-white head that shows excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity featuring dominant notes of ripe plum skin and sweet stone fruit. El Dorado hops contribute distinct layers of tropical melon and pear. Beneath the fruit, a fragrant vanilla sweetness is present, supported by light bready malt and creamy lactose notes. Fermentation esters are fruity and well-integrated.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tart and sweet Doris plums followed by tropical hop flavors. Low bready malt flavor is bolstered by the creamy sweetness of lactose and smooth vanilla. Hop bitterness is low to moderate and soft, providing just enough balance to the residual sugars. The finish is lingering and sweet with a clean, fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth and velvety texture provided by flaked oats and lactose. Moderate carbonation creates a creamy palate. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-hidden; no astringency or harsh hop bite.
