Thornbridge Huck is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases an assertive hop profile through the expert blending of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Amarillo hops. The aroma is led by punchy notes of zesty grapefruit and orange citrus, backed by a unique berry sweetness reminiscent of huckleberries and a touch of forest pine. On the palate, the hop intensity is high but remains remarkably clean, offering a refreshing citrus-forward character and a lingering, firm bitterness. Its light, neutral malt base provides just enough support to ensure the hop oils take center stage, finishing dry and crisp with a well-integrated, smooth alcohol warmth that emphasizes its strength without sacrificing drinkability.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant deep gold to light copper (approx. 8-10 SRM) with excellent clarity. It is topped by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and orange from Amarillo, resinous pine from Simcoe, and a complex berry and tropical fruit character from Mosaic. A supportive, clean, neutral grainy maltiness is present in the background with no notable fermentation esters.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors mirror the aroma, leading with citrus zest and a distinct berry-like fruitiness. The bitterness is high but clean and devoid of harshness. A low, soft malt character provides a brief neutral platform before transitioning into a dry, crisp finish with a lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Carbonation is medium-high, and there is a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated. No hop-derived astringency is present.
