Thornbridge Coco Cocoa presents a decadent take on the American Porter, defined by a lush interplay of specialty additions and dark malts. The aroma is dominated by toasted coconut and rich milk chocolate, reminiscent of a confectionary treat. On the palate, a backbone of Chocolate malt provides deep cocoa notes and a subtle roasted grain character, while the coconut adds a creamy, tropical sweetness that softens the moderate hop bitterness. This dark, inviting ale maintains a balanced profile, leaning into its dessert-like ingredients without becoming cloying, finishing with a pleasant, lingering sweetness and a soft, roasted dryness.

Appearance. Very dark brown to near-black (SRM 35-40) with deep ruby highlights when held to the light. It supports a dense, creamy, tan-colored head with excellent retention and moderate lacing. It is nearly opaque.

Aroma. High intensity. The primary aroma is a combination of sweet, shredded coconut and rich milk chocolate. Beneath the adjuncts lies a medium-strong roasted malt character with notes of coffee and toasted bread. Hop aroma is low, allowing the specialty ingredients to lead. Clean fermentation with very low fruity esters.

Taste. The initial impression is sweet and creamy, led by flavors of coconut and dark chocolate. A moderately strong roasted malt profile provides balance, offering notes of cocoa and light espresso. Bitterness is moderate (approx 35 IBU), providing structure to offset the sweetness. The finish is medium-sweet with lingering coconut and a clean, roasted aftertaste. No harsh or acrid grain notes are present.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, almost velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated at 5.5% ABV. There is no significant astringency.
