Thornbridge Bracia is a profound and decadent evolution of the British Brown Ale, specifically crafted as a rich dark ale at a formidable strength. It prominently features chestnut honey, which imparts a unique, slightly savory floral complexity to the aroma, blending seamlessly with notes of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and toffee. The palate is treated to a luxurious depth of caramel and biscuit malt flavors, balanced by a restrained earthy hop character. Appearance. Dark reddish-brown to deep mahogany (20-30 SRM) with ruby highlights. Features a moderate light tan head with good retention and fine lacing. Clarity is clear despite the dark hue.

Aroma. High intensity featuring rich malt notes of toffee, toasted hazelnuts, and dark chocolate. The unique addition of chestnut honey contributes a distinctive earthy, floral, and slightly herbal sweetness. Very low fruity esters and a subtle, earthy English hop presence are complemented by a noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth.

Taste. Initial impression is of deep malt sweetness with complex layers of biscuit, caramel, and toasted nuts. The chestnut honey provides a unique savory-sweet floral flavor that adds significant depth. Hop flavor is low and earthy, while bitterness is medium-low, allowing the malt and honey to lead. The finish is long and warming with a lingering toffee character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A significant but pleasant alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high gravity without becoming harsh or fusel.

Bracia is bottle conditioned straight from the maturation tank with champagne yeast, which adds to the velvety mouthfeel. We age it so it’s perfect to drink now, but it is definitely the kind of beer that matures and evolves over time, so I suggest you hoard a few bottles if you can for tasting later
