Thisted Bryghus Porse Guld is a distinctive golden lager that honors the Danish tradition of using hand-picked bog myrtle from Nationalpark Thy. This botanical herb provides a unique, resinous, and slightly sweet herbal character that replaces a portion of the traditional hop bitterness. The base exhibits the clean, bready malt profile of an Export Lager, providing a sturdy foundation for the earthy and spice-like porse notes. The result is a smooth, rounded palate where the herbal aromatics meld seamlessly with a gentle malt sweetness, finishing with a crisp, clean lager snap and a lingering, pleasant herbal aftertaste.
Appearance. Brilliant gold with high clarity. Pours with a moderate, creamy white head that shows fair retention and leaves light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate aroma of earthy and spicy bog myrtle, reminiscent of bay leaves and sweet gale. This is supported by a clean, grainy, and slightly bready malt presence. Hop aroma is very low, allowing the unique herbal character to lead. No fermentation esters or phenols are present.
