This Hazy IPA from Third Moon Brewing presents a vibrant, juice-forward profile driven by the unique combination of Superdelic and NZ Cascade hops. On the nose and palate, the Superdelic hops offer a nostalgic burst of Juicy Fruit gum and candied tropical notes, while the NZ Cascade provides a bright, citrusy counterpoint of white grapefruit and sweet clementine. The inclusion of oats in the grist creates a remarkably soft, pillowy texture that carries these intense, hop-saturated flavors across the tongue. It finishes with a gentle, restrained bitterness, allowing the lush, fruit-centric esters and hop oils to remain the primary focus.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM). Opaque, glowing haze with a thick, meringue-like white head that shows excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by tropical candy and bubblegum notes from Superdelic hops, alongside fresh clementine and pithy white grapefruit from NZ Cascade. Background notes of neutral, bready malt and soft oats with clean fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial rush of sweet citrus and tropical fruit. Strong flavors of clementine, white grapefruit, and Juicy Fruit gum. Low to medium-low bitterness that provides balance without harshness. Malt is supportive and slightly grainy/bready. Finish is soft and off-dry with a lingering juicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky, and creamy texture derived from the oats. Moderate carbonation. Very smooth with a subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no astringency.
