Third Moon Brewing Company Flawed Gods
Imperial IPA 8 º
Flawed Gods is a vibrant Double IPA that balances intense hop saturation with a smooth, oat-driven texture. The aromatic profile is led by the tropical fruit and berry notes of Mosaic and New Zealand Cascade, complemented by the sophisticated white grape and floral elegance of Hallertau Blanc. Simcoe provides a necessary resinous backbone, offering layers of pine and grapefruit. The palate is dominated by mango and citrus flavors, supported by a neutral, soft malt presence. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains highly drinkable with a firm, clean bitterness and a dry, lingering finish that highlights its complex New World hop character.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with fine lacing. Clarity is generally clear, though the oat addition may contribute a slight, soft haze.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma featuring Mosaic-driven berry and tropical fruit, complemented by the white wine and elderflower notes of Hallertau Blanc. New Zealand Cascade adds lime zest and floral depth, while Simcoe provides a grounding pine and resinous character. Malt is low and neutral.
Taste. Bold hop flavors of passionfruit, mango, and grapefruit citrus. The bitterness is firm and moderately high but smooth, supported by a low, grainy, soft malt character from the oats. Fermentation is clean with a dry, resinous finish and a lingering fruit-forward aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture attributed to the oat content. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth without being hot or solventy.
