Third Moon Brewing Company Double Bone Tree (2023)

This Double IPA is a saturated exploration of Citra in various forms, including Cryo Citra and Citra Spectrum. It presents an intense sensory profile dominated by dank tropical fruit and bright citrus. This batch delivers a dense, concentrated experience where layers of mango, passionfruit, and resinous lime collide. A creamy, substantial body supports the hop intensity without becoming cloying, maintaining a focus on the heavy lupulin character. While the alcohol provides a soft, integrated warmth, the finish remains focused on a lingering, hop-forward resonance, characteristic of a modern, highly-saturated interpretation of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (6-9 SRM). Opaque to hazy with a thick, persistent, creamy white head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward bouquet with dominant notes of ripe mango, passionfruit, and citrus zest. Significant resinous, dank undertones are present. Low, neutral grainy malt sweetness provides a clean background with no diacetyl.
Taste. Explosive hop flavors mirror the aroma with saturated tropical fruit and concentrated citrus oils. High bitterness is firm yet smooth, lacking any harshness. The malt character is soft and supportive, featuring light bready notes. The finish is medium-dry with a long, resinous aftertaste of hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, creamy body with a dense, mouth-coating texture. Moderate carbonation. Smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. Low hop-derived astringency.
