Thin Man Brewery Geography

Geography is an evocative Belgian Dark Strong Ale that marries traditional monastic depth with sophisticated vinous complexity. Aged for a year in Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir barrels, it presents a rich, bready-toasty malt core layered with deep caramel. The fermentation character delivers intense notes of raisin and date, which are sharpened by red wine-derived accents of cherry and a subtle, refreshing tartness. Oak integration provides a soft structure, while spicy phenols and a well-integrated 9.3% alcohol warmth provide a smooth, lingering finish reminiscent of dried fruits and fine wine. It is a nuanced, slow-sipping beer that balances malt richness with barrel-aged elegance.
Appearance. Deep copper to mahogany brown (20-22 SRM) with excellent clarity; features a huge, dense, and persistent light-tan moussy head that leaves intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of rich, bready malt, dark caramel, and deep esters of raisin, prune, and dried cherry. Subtle spicy black pepper phenols and a distinct vinous, oaky quality from the wine barrels are present, alongside a soft, perfumy alcohol.
Taste. Rich and complex maltiness leads with flavors of caramel and toasted bread, followed by layers of raisin, fig, and tart cherry. The wine barrel influence adds a vinous character and light oak tannins. It features medium-low bitterness, balancing a malty-rich start with a moderately dry, slightly tart, and warming finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderately high, providing a lift to the richness. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy.
