Psychic Advisor is an intensely vibrant West Coast Double IPA that balances power with a remarkably lean malt profile. Built on a base of 2-row and Pilsner malts with a touch of wheat for a soft texture, the sensory experience is dominated by an aggressive dry-hop regimen. Leading with pungent aromas of candied mandarins and lime leaf driven by Amarillo and El Dorado, the profile evolves into deeper layers of pine resin and dank earthiness courtesy of Mosaic, Strata, and CTZ. It finishes dry and crisp, showcasing firm bitterness and a clean, resinous aftertaste typical of the Double IPA style.
Appearance.Deep gold to pale orange (7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma.High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of candied mandarin orange, zesty lime leaf, and passionfruit. Secondary layers of pungent pine resin and a distinct dankness are present. The malt is neutral and supportive, showing light grainy-sweet notes from the Pilsner and 2-row base.
Taste.Initial hop-forward punch of tropical fruit and citrus oils. Firm, moderately high bitterness is well-integrated and never harsh. Malt flavors are low, presenting as clean cracker and light bread. The mid-palate reveals resinous pine and berry notes. It concludes with a dry, clean finish and a lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel.Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture from the wheat addition. Carbonation is medium-high. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated for 8.6% ABV. No significant astringency.
