R.I.P. Me by The Veil Brewing Co. is a saturated sensory exploration of high-intensity hopping, showcasing a massive profile driven by Citra and Citra Lupulin Powder. These deliver concentrated layers of ruby red grapefruit and ripe mango, while Nelson adds a sophisticated counterpoint of crushed gooseberry and white wine grapes. Simcoe rounds out the profile with resinous pine and earthy passionfruit. At 8% ABV, this Double IPA maintains high drinkability with a lean, neutral malt backbone that allows the multi-dimensional hop oils to remain the focus. The experience concludes with a firm, clean bitterness and a dry, lingering tropical finish.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange-copper (7 SRM) with a large, persistent, frothy white head that leaves significant lacing. Slight haze is present, though the beer remains translucent.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, passionfruit, and mango, complemented by a distinct white grape and gooseberry character. Malt is low and neutral, providing a grainy-sweet background. Clean fermentation profile with a very light, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavors, specifically mango and lime. Malt flavor is low and soft, offering a clean, cracker-like support. Bitterness is high but well-integrated and lacks harshness. The finish is medium-dry to dry with a long-lasting aftertaste of citrus peel and resinous hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the heavy hop load. Carbonation is moderate-high. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but remains restrained and smooth, without any astringency.
