Fire Emoji is an assertive sensory showcase of modern craft collaboration, emphasizing high-intensity hop saturation. The profile is defined by an explosive tropical and citrus bouquet resulting from heavy additions of Motueka, Galaxy, and Citra hops. Expect vibrant notes of crushed lime, passion fruit, and bright pink grapefruit to dominate the palate. Despite its 8.2% strength, this Double IPA remains remarkably drinkable with a lean malt backbone that avoids the heavy sweetness often found in high-gravity ales. The double dry-hop treatment lends a resinous depth and a persistent fruity finish, exemplifying a clean, hop-forward balance that is both potent and refreshing.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper (6–10 SRM). Displays a moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine-textured foam and excellent lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy, typical of heavily dry-hopped versions.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of lime zest, passion fruit, peach, and grapefruit. Malt character is low and neutral, providing a light grainy or cracker-like background. The fermentation profile is clean with very low esters and a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a complex burst of tropical fruit and citrus hop flavors, specifically lime, mango, and grapefruit. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but smooth and never harsh. The malt is supportive and clean, lacking caramel or heavy toast. It features a medium-dry finish with a lingering, resinous hop aftertaste and a clean fermentation character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a crispness that aids drinkability. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
