The Queer Brewing Project
This American IPA presents a vibrant, sensory-forward take on the West Coast style. Brimming with Loral and Centennial hops, it opens with a pronounced bouquet of wildflowers and sharp lemon pith. The use of a Chico ale strain ensures a pristine fermentation profile, allowing the hop-derived notes of resinous pine and citrus to dominate without yeast interference. A lean malt backbone provides just enough support for the assertive bitterness to shine. The finish is remarkably clean and lingering, emphasizing a classic resinous snap that defines the style's refreshing yet punchy character.
Appearance. Brilliant clarity with a deep gold hue. It supports a medium-sized, off-white head with excellent persistence and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent floral and herbal notes from Loral, complemented by the classic citrus and pine of Centennial. A low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness sits in the background, alongside a very clean fermentation profile devoid of heavy esters.
Taste. Initial impression is one of firm, assertive bitterness. High hop flavors of lemon zest, floral blossoms, and resinous pine lead the palate. The malt character is low and neutral, offering a bready foundation that leads into a medium-dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is hoppy and clean, with a lingering resinous quality.
