This American Pale Ale presents a vibrant fusion of New Zealand viticulture and brewing. Brewed with Nelson Sauvin and Motueka SubZero Hop Kief, the aromatic profile explodes with crushed white grape and zesty lime. The addition of Doom Juice Weiss—a blend of Vermentino and Gewurztraminer wine—elevates the sensory experience, contributing distinct layers of passionfruit, guava, and a floral, lychee-like sweetness. NZ premium malts provide a lean, biscuit-forward base that allows the high-intensity tropical notes to lead. It finishes crisp and dry, balancing wine-like acidity with a clean, moderate bitterness that showcases the unique Moutere Hills terroir.
Appearance. Pours a pale golden color (6 SRM) with slight haze. Features a moderately large, white, creamy head with good retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring white wine grapes, gooseberry, and intense lime zest. Distinctive tropical notes of passionfruit and guava are bolstered by floral Gewurztraminer esters. Low neutral-grainy malt character supports the fruit-heavy profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical guava and citrus. The mid-palate reveals complex white grape and stone fruit flavors from the wine and Nelson Sauvin hops. Malt flavor is low and bready, providing a lean backbone. Bitterness is moderate and clean, leading to a very dry, crisp finish with lingering notes of passionfruit and citrus peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. Overall smooth and refreshing without astringency, featuring a clean, dry finish and no significant alcohol warmth.
