This American Pale Ale by The Kernel delivers a focused sensory exploration of Mosaic and Eclipse hops. Set against a clean, light-bodied malt backdrop, Mosaic contributes its signature complex notes of blueberries and tropical fruit, while Eclipse adds vibrant layers of mandarin peel and pine resin. The beer is characteristically dry, allowing the hop oils to permeate the palate without heavy caramel interference. A brisk bitterness provides structure, leading to a crisp, refreshing finish. Appearance. Pale golden (SRM 6) with a brilliant to slightly hazy clarity from bottle conditioning. It features a moderately large, frothy white head with excellent retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with Mosaic's distinct blueberry and ripe mango, complemented by the bright, citrusy mandarin zest and sweet pine needles of Eclipse hops. Low, grainy, bready malt provides a neutral foundation, accompanied by a clean fermentation profile with very subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and bright, with bold flavors of tropical fruit, berry, and citrus pith. Moderate bitterness is firm but well-integrated, supported by a lean, bready malt character. There is no significant caramel sweetness, and the finish is remarkably dry and clean with a lingering note of citrus oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, moderate to high carbonation that enhances the refreshing quality. There is no perceived alcohol warmth or astringency, resulting in an exceptionally smooth and drinkable feel.
