The palate is a masterclass in richness, delivering layers of toasted bread and deep caramel malt character, further elevated by spicy yeast phenols and a smooth vanilla undertone from the bourbon barrels. Despite its massive strength, the finish remains remarkably balanced, offering a lingering, sophisticated warmth that underscores its monastic roots reimagined through a bold, modern lens.
Appearance. Deep coppery-brown (22 SRM). Dense, persistent light tan head with fine lacing. Generally clear, though it may show a slight oily sheen due to the very high alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity. Rich, bready-toasty malt base with heavy dark caramel. Strong esters of raisin, prune, and dried cherry. Pronounced bourbon-derived notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and coconut. Spicy phenols of black pepper and a smooth, perfumy alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression of decadent malt sweetness and dark stone fruit. Deep caramel and toffee flavors dominate the mid-palate. Low hop bitterness is offset by spicy oak tannins and alcohol.
