The Bruery Cluster Luck

This Imperial Stout offers a decadent sensory journey, merging intense roasted malts with the nuances of beechwood and white oak fermentation. Deep layers of cacao nibs and toasted almonds provide a rich, nutty foundation, while aromatic vanilla softens the bold, dark chocolate profile. A delicate addition of sea salt brightens the palate, cutting through the heavy malt sweetness to reveal subtle woody tannins and earthy undertones. Expect a complex interplay of bittersweet cocoa and dark fruit esters, supported by a significant but well-integrated alcohol presence that develops into a long, warming finish typical of its high strength.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40 SRM). It pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head that shows moderate retention, leaving oily legs on the glass as it recedes, indicating high viscosity.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by bittersweet chocolate and dark roasted coffee. Prominent notes of toasted almonds and sweet vanilla bean are layered over a background of dark dried fruits like raisins and prunes. Subtle woody characteristics from the beechwood and white oak add a faint, earthy complexity alongside a noticeable, clean alcohol warmth.
Taste. The initial impression is intensely rich and bittersweet. Bold flavors of dark chocolate and cacao nibs lead into a mid-palate of creamy vanilla and roasted nuttiness. A faint salinity from the sea salt enhances the malt depth without being overtly salty. Moderate hop bitterness and heavy roast provide balance against the significant sweetness. The finish is long and complex, featuring lingering notes of espresso, toasted oak, and a smooth alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present and noticeable, contributing to the beer’s substantial, warming character without being sharp or fusel.
